Focus on Understanding

The new A Level Chemistry syllabus requires students to have a deeper fundamental understanding of concepts and students who study via rote memory will not do well.

Higher Order Questions

e-Learning Tutorial

For every topic, Mr Kelvin will assign homework questions, which students are expected to complete. Mr Kelvin will provide video explanation of these questions in the learning portal.

Topical Quizzes

Quizzes will be conducted frequently after lessons or topics to check on students’ understanding and to help them consolidate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Having H2 Chemistry opens up more university course options. To study Medicine or Dentistry, H2 Chemistry is compulsory. With H2 Chemistry, you are still able to enter Business schools, engineering, etc. It is also equally important to do well for Chemistry thus most students turn to H2 Chemistry tuition to help them gain an advantage.

No doubt, H2 Chemistry is the most difficult of all the three H2  sciences. Students need to be good at calculations, explanations, application and drawing structures. That's why it is very important to have an experienced H2 Chemistry Tutor to guide students taking H2 Chemistry.

H1 Chemistry is a subset of H2 Chemistry topics but H1 has additional topics, Polymer and Nanotechnology. Due to the smaller candidature of H1 Chemistry, it is difficult to get an A for H1. A common misconception is that if you are getting S/U grade for H2, you can can A for H1. This is a myth, you will most likely be getting E for H1 Chemistry. The best bet is still to seek help from an experienced H2 Chemistry Tutor, such as Mr Kelvin, as early as possible to sort out any issues with H2 Chemistry.

You will first need to have good content knowledge, with this, then you can tackle higher order questions. The difficult range of A level questions ranges from basic to higher order and we need to maximise our marks regardless of the difficulty. This is where we need to know exactly what Cambridge wants as answers, which Mr Kelvin will be able to assist in this.

Students in our JC Chemistry Tuition programme will be asked to submit work for marking by Mr Kelvin, so that Mr Kelvin can guide students in their answering technique.

A Level H2 Chemistry consists of four papers:

P1: MCQ (1 hour)

P2: Structured + Database Questions (2 hour)

P3: Free Response Integrated Questions (2 hour)

P4: Practical (2 hour 30 min)

At The Chemistry Practice, during our JC Chemistry tuition lessons, we will conduct time trials for students to prepare them for the A Level papers.

No, that will be too late. JC1 topics are mainly calculation based and foundational topics are covered. If you have a poor foundation in JC1, you will very likely struggle in JC2. You need to start on the right footing in JC1, otherwise the road ahead will be difficult. The later you start H2 Chemistry tuition, the tougher it is to turn your grade around.
